Jar Capital Cost Analysis
Jar capital cost amortized over expected lifespan and divided by total plate usage.
With traditional systems, each consumable adds to your per-sample cost. Here is where the money goes.
1 Pick Your System
Select the tab that matches your lab. If you start samples in bags and regas in jars, choose Combination.
2 Gather Your Numbers
You will need your per-plate cost, consumable box prices, and quantities per box. Your most recent invoice or PO has everything.
OxyPlate™ price: Enter a quoted price or contact us for current pricing.
Format: Numbers only, no dollar signs. Use decimals for cents (e.g., 1.50).
3 Hit Calculate
Every field must have a value. The calculator highlights any empty field if you miss one.
4 Read Your Results
You will see summary cards at the third regassing event (where most labs hit the crossover), a line chart tracking cost across all events, and a detailed table.
What is a “regassing event”?
Every time you open your anaerobic system to check plates, you break the environment and need fresh consumables to restore it. That is one regassing event. With traditional systems, each one adds cost.
OxyPlate™ regenerates the anaerobic environment inside the plate itself. Open, check, reseal, up to 5 times, with no new consumables and no added cost. That is why OxyPlate cost stays flat while your current system keeps climbing.
Common Questions
Check your most recent purchase order or call your distributor rep for a current price sheet. You need the box price and the number of units per box for each consumable.
This calculator covers bag and jar workflows. Chamber economics involve different variables (gas supply, maintenance contracts, space). Contact us and we can build a chamber-specific comparison together.
OxyBlue™ is a proprietary indicator strip used with every OxyPlate to confirm anaerobic conditions. At $0.1387 per plate it is a small cost, but we include it automatically so the comparison is accurate.
This version covers direct material and consumable costs. Labor savings from eliminating jar loading, post-reduction, and consumable management are real but vary by lab. Contact us if you want a full total-cost-of-ownership analysis.
Plate price is just the tip. The real cost of your anaerobic program sits below the surface: consumables that reset with every regassing, equipment amortization, and operational time your team spends managing it all.
Predictable Cost Per Sample
OxyPlate™ cost is fixed. No new consumables at any regassing event.
Zero Consumable Overhead
No bags, sachets, or indicators to buy or manage. Your cost is the plate.
5 Checks, $0 Added
Open, inspect, reseal up to 5 times with no lost environment and no added cost.
Better Anaerobic Recovery
Minimized oxygen exposure means enhanced recovery of oxygen-sensitive organisms.
