Oxyrase® is an enzyme system that removes dissolved oxygen from liquid, gas or semisolid products. While it is considered a “strong” reducing agent, Oxyrase® and its substrates and reactants are all natural and work efficiently over a wide range of pH and temperatures. This makes it a versatile resource that can be used across numerous different applications and industries.

How does it work?

Oxyrase® uses the same mechanics of respiration employed by all living beings. It selectively captures oxygen and with a substrate converts it to water.

How can it be used?

To name only a few and nowhere near all, Oxyrase® can be used
  • To isolate, grow, and identify anaerobe microorganisms that cause infectious disease
  • To extend the shelf life of oxygen-sensitive chemicals in products made by others
  • To increase the intensity and longevity of activated fluorescent dyes that are susceptible to quenching by oxygen. This enhances the usefulness of fluorescence for imaging biological processes in live cells
  • To measure susceptibility of microbes to the antibiotic Tigecycline, a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against some strains that are resistant to many other antibiotics
  • To protect and preserve sperm cells during cryo storage
