The OxyPRAS™ Plate (Pre-Reduced Anaerobically Sterilized) is different from conventionally made PRAS plate, because The Oxyrase® Enzyme System is used in its manufacture.
Oxyrase® is used during the manufacture of the plate to prevent oxidation products from forming during preparation. Oxyrase® is again added to the final plate. Oxyrase® keeps the plate reduced and confers properties to the OxyPRAS™ plate not found in standard or conventional PRAS plates. PRAS plates are needed to isolate all Anaerobes from Clinical Specimens.
OxyPRAS™ plates differ from standard plates in important ways:
- They are made for Anaerobes.
- They come reduced - ready to use.
- They are specially packaged in oxygen barrier bags.
- They stay reduced in air for hours.
- They can be stored refrigerated, for very long shelf life.
- They can be stored at room temperature.
- They meet Best Practice criteria for working with clinical Anaerobes.
